Inserting Families & Columns

Hey everyone!

I am having some trouble on loading families & inserting that family into my revit model.... I am trying to insert Cylindrical Columns/Beams & the software isnt letting me...

If you are working in a plan view then try Height instead of Depth.

I figure you have chosen the right Category..

You have to get Structural Families from Structure>Beam and Columns and not from Component > Place a Component

and check Beam visibility .  Structural Frame, by default, is unchecked, so you'll have to check it in VGO..

Beam? If no visibility errors are being thrown, I suspect you just don't recognize it because you're in Coarse View and the Beam is represented as a stick symbol.  Or the Symbolic Representation is "From Family" and not "From Project".  Verify this setting in Family.
