After linking a file into revit using shared coordinates, you are always prompted when saving the revit file if you want to 'save the position of the link' etc and sometimes if you forget to save the position of the link the next time you open your revit file, the linked file would have moved or its orientation might have changed. is there a proper way of managing your linked file once you have inserted it using shared coordinates?

If you are prompted to Save a Link, then, YES, Save the Link. That's the "proper way of managing your linked file once you have inserted it using shared coordinates."
My issue is being prompted to save the link every time I'm about to save the project, I'd rather save the link once and not be prompted to save it every time I'm about to save the project
