It has to be easier than this... 25 attempts to figure it out, can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong?
Obviously, the coordinates do not line up. I couldn't make out the actual numbers for the insertion point in AutoCAD but they appear quite large and that is probably why you are getting that message about 20 miles away. You could verify that your survey and project base points in Revit are correct with the party determining those coordinates or you could insert it using the center to center option for the positioning. You will have to manually line it up with the model after using the center to center option.
When coordinating models like this, one needs to make sure to coordinates are coordinated by taking the necessary steps, which it seems you need to do a little research on, since you said "it doesn't seem to matter" several times when referring to that stuff. Once the project coordinates are acquired and, as long as all parties involved are on board and coordinated, inserting other trades files correctly should make everything line up automatically.
Have you set a share coordinate system in revit?
Also check that the acad hasn't got any hidden features. Try to zoom extend the ACAD to see whats happened. If you share the revit and acad drawings i am sure i can solve your problem
First, if the surveyor CAD is right, you shouldn't do a Wblock with a new origin. unless you dont want to be georeferencing.
The clean way is to link a CAD from surveyor to a Site.rvt file, then import the coordinates from this link.
After, you can link a project.rvt inside the Site.Rvt File and push the coordinates to the project file.
that way, you will in shared coordinates AND georeferencing.
