In-Place Mass: Roof

Hello, I am new to the massing capabilities of Revit and do not know where to begin in designing a roof idea I have for my final project. The roof is organic and slopes into the earth as a testament to integration and unity. I have attached photos below for a visual. Thank you in advance!

hi,

there could be several ways to do it by using Mass and then Roof by Face.

  • a swell like, Mass cut by four cylinder -Voids , could be for instance one of this approach
  • but my favourite method is to make Mass surface as follows:
    • Create a network of Reference Planes
    • Place Reference Points (that will be used as Driving Curves Points) at strategic positions on this network
    • Create Splines Through these Points   and use then them to create a Form by Lofts, a Surface
    • Set the Reference Points (Driving Curves Points) Offsets and fix Offset Parameters to control the heights
    • When working, turn Element to view it in X-Ray display mode. Use additional Profiles to refine the Model.
    • You can control the element appearance either by moving the parametric Points , or working on Profiles
    • Increasing the number of Reference Points in the first stage, will allow a better control of the Form.
    • Once happy with the result, load the Mass into the Project and use Roof by Face
