in-place family not to show as view range

Hi there all

Using Revit 2019, we have an in-place family, it consists of sweeps on every floor and it strangely shows the sweeps of lower floors on higher levels. as opposition to view range settings

Changing category is not working. (tried this https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/revit-architecture-forum/revit-in-place-mass-showing-up-on-all-floor-...

View range is not the problem

Grouping the in-place family, saving it as link or as family is not helping.

Are you saying it is one in-place family with many sweeps that are placed on different layers?   Make each sweep in it's own in-place family.

Turn the In-Place Component into Parts, and set you Views to Parts or Both. Seems to work.

...but then there will be a mass of multiple entries underneath family category structure.

Anyway, is it not logical to expect an in place family to act with view range, family category etc?

FWIW: it doesn't work with Parts Visibility set to Both, so I doubt that will work in the long run.

I agree, there must be a better solution.

BTW: your construct reminds me of something out of the movie "Alien".  It's a little spooky..but, cool.
