Importing Sections From Another Project

I've created generic sections that will be used on multiple residential house projects to detail walls, stairs, roof, foundation, etc.

Is it possible to import these sections into another project? Ideally, I would like to have all the needed sheets under one Revit project.

Known Workaround: Used PDF software to combine sheets.

Are you referring to live sections of the model?

Drafting is a breeze and Revit doesn't always work the way you think it should.

Yes. I'm trying to increase my workflow by not having to combine separate PDF documents.

Hi @BigPicture045

Unfortunately it is not possible, the views as section, elevations, floor plan, de views.
Only, Drafting views  and schedules ,

As you can see here

I don't get that. Drawings usually have project information on them and are unique from project to project. I don't see how you can take a sheet from one project and insert it into another.

Either insert PDF sheets or create the generic sections as a drafting views.

In such a case I'd do as follows:

  • select the Section View that I intent to use in other project only as a 2d drawing,
  • Export >CAD formats> DWG and save it in your data base folder
  • in the New Revit Project either in a section View if you want to combine with your 3d model or in a Drafting View if you want to keep it in a sort of library  :Insert>> Import> Import CAD  , and place it on the desired position
  • as it was Import not Linked, you 'll be able to Explode the dwg so to make 2d changes. Be careful with Exploding CAD files , this could increase significant your file...You have to make some test for this.

It's not a perfect solution , but I think it could solve the problem...
