Imported .SAT Generic Model not visible in Object Styles

Hello,

I have been trying to add materials to my imported .SAT and .3DM files. I understand that in order to achieve this, the user must go into the Object Styles and selected the imported name of the category and change the material.

Unfortunately, the imported category names are not showing up in my object styles. Is there any reason for this? I have attempted this with different categories and none of them portray the proper imported data.

Thank you for your help.

Hi @brobes05

Can you send us the file to test further? I can share a private folder if you'd like.

Thanks,

@brobes05

That only works up to Revit 2016.  From 2017 version, SAT is imported directly to one of the category of your choosing (pay attention to the import dialog).  They are no longer put under Imported category.

Thank you. I had a feeling this might be true.

The imported geometries are placed into the families categories in the project browser. Nevertheless, (as shown in the image), there does not seem to be an option to add materials.

Am I overlooking something?

Thank you.

Erik

Is editing model in place allowing you to assign a material? If not, you may need to save the SAT to DWG and link/import it in. Then you can assign materials via object styles.

Hi @brobes05

A similar case is in progress by the team that discusses Different behaviors between 2016 and 2017 when importing SAT in Revit

More details HERE

@ToanDN is right From 2017 version, SAT is not under the Imported category.

Take a look at this thread which discusses alternatives with FormIT

Can you upload your journal as well to test further?

Thanks,

Hello,

Yes, this is a similar case; however, the question is only partially resolved. I am able to import .SAT file categorically which is fine when I don't need to assign materials. As @ToanDN mentioned, if I import a .DWG it should be possible to change the material in object styles. I have not gotten this to work yet, but it should work.

Nonetheless, as importing a .DWG removes the category, I don't believe this query has been resolved as of yet. I appreciate all of your help!
