import Door Materials/Finishes from Type Properties into Door Schedule

Student here, still learning this app...

Creating a Door schedule, I would expect the parameters I created for Type Properties should be able to auto-populate a schedule that lists each and every door for a large building.  (I mean... that's kinda the point of parametrics, no?)

I have the "material" fields in the schedule properties, but can't find how to link (display) the material properties into these fields.  Really, the only thing that auto-populated was "mark" and "sizes" despite parameters having (ostensibly) been assigned.

I suspect this is an egregious oversight on my part, but I'm becoming a bit frustrated with my ignorance here...

Thanks!

-Philip

@Philip_ATX

Not all parameters populate in the schedule. If it is a user created parameter and one needs to schdule it, this parameter needs to be shared,

If you wish to schedule material (and some of their properties which are OOTB schdulable) use Material  Take Off schedule

For other material properties which are are there in the material asset and not available as fields in schedules , the easiest way to schedules such properties is to add the shared parameters needed then use dynamo to get values then set those values into the shared parameters

Well, this isn't encouraging...

Since "yo no hablo dynamo," I suspect I am still left with manually entering data into a schedule then?  (Geesh, I can't even select and paste into multiple cells at a time?)

Honestly, it seems I could have one note for each type of door stating the materials, but that's not want my instructor requested...  (When I ask him about "automating," he alludes to "job security" which isn't very helpful. LOL.)

I am honestly wondering at what stage I need to focus on learning dynamo.  For individual projects as a student, it might not merit the effort, but in a firm, it would certainly make sense to have templates to automate these things.

(It seems I recall a similar issue when I once inquired about, I believe it was sill heights, on a project.  Dynamo to automate...)

I am going to hold off declaring this "solved" for now so as not to close out the conversation just yet.  (I don't know if that is how this works?)

Thanks!

@Philip_ATX

just add one field that says Material: name from the list

@Philip_ATX  no need to panic

As mentioned above, add at least one of the highlighted fields below then it works fine

You can start watching some tutorials and maybe visit the DynamoBIM forum they have some learning material. Its pretty much easy if you know what you want to do and if it is doable in Revit...can start with the task you have at hand and if you provide more details on what exactly are you trying to schedule and post the family you are trying to extract data from I am sure many will help you figure it out

Okay.  I'm a moron.  That actually worked when I selected additional fields. (Thought I had done that!)

I will *definitely* review how to script in dynamo when I have more time.  (As I say, I am a student, and am still pretty green at this!)

Unfortunately, I need to focus on getting an assignment in right now!

Thank you!  ...For both the solution and for DynamoBIM forum info!
