image on transparent wall

Hi,

I put a picture with no background on a wall, but when I adjust the transparency of the wall, the picture becomes transparent too. Is there a way to make the picture clear and the wall transparent?

Instead of a wall material,

  1. use a Decal (optional: on a split face)
  2. Split face and paint the material with that image on the split face while the leftover of the wall remains transparent

Edit... See attached GIF for both methods

The decal takes over the properties of the transparency of the wall. Instead of making the wall transparent you could make an almost complete transparent material for the wall. Otherwise you could place the decal on a small separate object

Please mention Revit version, especially when uploading Revit files.

Not the wall, the Face and only in realistic mode preview. Therefore the suggested split face then paint or decal

Moreover, when rendered, the decal does not inherit the transparency of the wall. Only the Transparency applied to the Decal attribute will apply. IE: Decal may also be used on Transparent surfaces even if user does not split the face hosting the decal (Below GIF side by side Decal on a split face and decal on a transparent surface)

Thank you! That´s awesome, so I don´t need to use split face at all.

If you can live with it halftone till you render, sure.

Many prefer the split face considering that you do not render all views
