OK, so let me just start off by saying that I DO NOT support this workflow, but we have a client that is adamant that this is how things are being done so I am just wondering what the best way forward would be...
I want to know how you would go about recreating an IFC project to Revit?
Currently, the architect designs in ArchiCAD and then passes the design on to the Revit technologists to recreate from scratch. The technologists then import an IFC file and use this to rebuild the model by copying elements and essentially "tracing" the IFC file.... (I foresee so many problems with this)
This is a short term arrangement as the client is busy implementing Revit workflows. The problem is that the deadlines are tight and the architect works faster in ArchiCAD and cant achieve the same output in Revit.
What would be the best way to support this workflow??
Any recommendations would be helpful!
So, you are one of the "Revit technologists" who "trace" the IFC? How are you "importing"?
Link IFC=>Bind=>Ungroup? Or, are you opening IFC directly? If not, that might improve the workflow.
As a former Archicad user....I'd prefer getting dwg's exported from Archicad instead of IFC files.
No, I prefer the "create from scratch method".... but right now we are assisting an Architectural client (I work as an external BIM/ Revit Consultant) who needs to support this workflow for the time being...
Right now the IFC file is being LINKED in.... then "traced"... and then REMOVED from the file...
Are you suggesting that this is the best way to recreate an ArchiCAD file in Revit?
