Hey!
Is there any way to get the door swing lines and window lines to show up correctly in a Linked IFC model coming from Revit? What I am looking for is the same result as in the original Revit file, like the <By Linked view> for when linking a Revit model. I want to be able to create levels on the same elevation as the linked file and I want the linked IFC-model to be good enough to act as a reference for our sheets.
This is because sometimes the architects doesn't want to share their Revit model and only share the IFC-model. We want to be able to work with that too and not be dependent on getting the Revit model from them.
I Link the IFC file and copy Levels with Copy/Monitor and create views from those levels. But when I go to those views, the visibility for doors and windows gets compromised, sometimes it doesn't even show up even though it is well within the cut plane. So, is there any way to cope with this? To get the visibility correct?
The export is made with "Export 2D plan view elements" checked.
I use Revit 2020.2 and I have attached some images showing the issues.
Regards
If they are 2D elements in the .rvt or family they will be exported if "Export 2D Plan View Elements" is checked. Sometimes setting the export to HIGH can capture finer details but either ways the 2D export the way they are modeled in the .rvt
The thing with openings (doors/frames/curtainwalls), the exported wall opening (IfcOpeningElement/A-WALL) can obscure/block visibility of 2D elements hosted on the ref. level plane in the original .rvt they were exported from. Hence, you need to either filter out the IfcOpeningElements or not export them...See image below 1 view raw and the copy filtered

Hey,
Thank you for your response.
I feel like that is not consistent, I have created some symbolic lines in the family and exported a new IFC and this is the result.
In the architectural model, on Level 1, the plan looks like this:
In my model, when the IFC is Linked, Level 1 looks like this when I get rid of the IfcOpeningElement/A-WALL:
For the doors this is fine enough, but for the windows, the lines gets obscured by the wall that the windows host to. They have a Sill Height, I have tried creating a Plan region but to no success.
There is also a Level 2, in which the 2D-lines doesn't show up at all. It is basically the same objects as Level 1 but I don't get any 2D-lines on that level in my model. And this is where it gets strange. When I click on the Linked IFC in my model and drag it slightly to the side, in that preview, I can see the lines:
So I'm starting to think that it is visibility related in my model but I just can't figure out where this would be. I have tried V/G, V/G in the link, Detail level (coarse, medium, fine), template, moving the elevation of the level, Plan regions. The only way I can get them to show up is if I turn Shadows on, does that give any clue or indication on how to get them to show up?
I'm unable to recreate the same on my end...output seems always consistent. Can you upload you files (rvt & ifc) so I can check it on my end?

Hey again!
Sure, and once again thank you for taking a look at this. I have attached the files. It seems like I cannot attach the IFC file, just the Revit file so please try and export an IFC file from the "Architectural model.rvt"

Hey again!
Were you able to recreate the issue? I would love to solve this so we can work with IFC-exported files from Revit
