IFC export

Hi,

I export IFC from Revit, but IFC file lost Families parameters...

I need to set a Level parameter For Curtain Panels, but when I open my  IFC export in Navisworks or ASTA power project I  do not have any of parameters at IFC properties column.

Any idea why I can not have or export Curtain Panel parameters?

Thanks for any idea/ solution.

Thanks... But it  does not say anything for me. Just to be clear . I do not have any advanced experience in IFC exports..

It looks that I do not have that IFC Export Setup Options- I assume it comes with additional add in  ( app ) which should be installed in Revit.

At this moment I have just simple IFC export with no more options.. ( please see in the images )

Should I add IFC exporter as a plug in ( app )?

You can access IFC export option by scrolling down to the bottom of the main export menu. There is no add-on needed.

Yes, I found it- IFC options

But still there is no IFC setup options, just for DWG.

Hi @Anonymous

The main Export window is very basic and offers all currently open project in a list – in general it makes sense to export only one project at once, as many settings are project specific.Click on Export - IFC - Modify Setup

ifc 1.png

Modify Setup opens a dialog with more detailed settings and offers a choice between all implemented MVDs. These MVDs can be adapted if needed and also save as new definition. These are settings available in the Modify Setup dialog:

ifc 2.png

IFC Version: offers all implemented versions along with the MVDs – the most commonly used is the IFC2x3 Coordination View 2.0, while IFC4 offers better results for complex geometry, however it is not supported by all software yet.

If the exported IFC is to be used for coordination purposes (e.g. is not going to be edited but only referenced or used in an IFC Viewer), it is recommended to use IFC 2x3 Coordination View 2.0 or IFC4 Reference View.

If the IFC is intended for editing in another editing software, it is recommended to use IFC4 Model Transfer View.

Hi, thanks for such a detail explanation.

It looks that I have right now IFC Setup but it looks that I do not have some of the options ( Level of Detail, Additional Content ). I am using REVIT 2016 version. Perhaps ... it is because of my old version?

But still I need to set Curtain Panels parameters defined by myself and after IFC export at IFC file I do not have those parameters which I defined by myself. Can someone explain me  what exactly I have to do to keep at IFC file all parameters which I created ?

Hi @Anonymous

Thank you for your response and for acknowledging my suggestion!Smiley Happy

By default Revit uses the appropriate IFC mapping file when you export a project to IFC. For building elements that do not have automatic mapping to IFC export classes, the value displayed in the IFC Class Name column is 'Not Exported'. In the case of a Curtain wall - it  is represented as a building element assembly and implemented as a subtype of walls, panels and geometry.

Let me know if you were able to resolve the issue.
