Hello,
Does anyone know of any way to get revit to highlight gaps in ascending numbers in a schedule?
I'm developing a kit of parts and giving each part in the kit a unique Type Mark. Occasionally I need to delete a few parts and so their type numbers become free.
A schedule of complete parts sorted by Type Mark in ascending order might show :
1
2
3
4
5
If I delete parts 2 and 3, it'll show:
1
4
5
I have c. 180 parts. Its becoming a bit of a pain to keep having to cast my eye down the schedule to spot gaps in the number sequence so I can assign the missing Type Mark to another new part.
If anyone knows a clever trick or formula to get Revit to highlight gaps in this sequence that would be great!
Thanks

Dynamo should be able to do this pretty easily. Not sure if you already know how to use it, but if not, nothing better to help learn than a real world problem.
Never used Dynamo.
At my last practice it was only the tech-whizzes in the BIM team that developed Dynamo scripts.
How hard is it to learn? Do you know if it works with Revit LT (prob not)
Ah, no I don't think it works with LT.
I don't consider myself technologically challenged, but I also wouldn't call myself a tech whiz. It took me probably 2 or 3 weeks before I wasn't CONSTANTLY google searching how to do things, but even now, after 6 or 7 months, I somewhat regularly search how to do new things.
The main things you need to do is learn the basics, then figure out what sorts of key words and phrases to use when searching how to do new things.
But again, moot point for Revit LT, but I'd suggest giving it a go if you get the opportunity in the future.
Break up you schedule to columns with a fixed number of row (say 10) per column. Then it will be easier to spot the gap when you see the bottom row of a column is not 10 x n, i.e. 10, 20, 30...

Actually, I'm not sure I can group them in blocks of 10.
I can have a number of different schedules, each one filtering out unwanted numbers. So, for instance a 10-20 and 30-40 schedule...which sort of helps a little.
How do you group them in blocks of 10?
Use a working schedule without filtering out any number for QC/QA, and hide all other columns/headers/title, except for the Type Mark column to make it even easier. Keep the sheet's schedules as you have them.
So sorry (I'm now feeling like a bit of an idiot)
But, how have you split the data like that in a single schedule?
I can hide columns and filter data no prob. But, grouping in rows of 10......can't understand how you've done it
Would you be able to give me a step by step?
I'm using Revit Lt so may not have all the functions of full RVT
Thanks!
Place the schedule on a sheet, select it and you will see a blue break symbol on the border of the schedule, click it to break the schedule to another column, keep doing it, then drag the bottom grip of each column to set how many rows for each column.
Ahh sorry I see - I didn't catch the bit about placing it on a sheet - clever.
Haven't done that before. Okay, will try that thanks!
