From 2017 back to earlier versions, a tread wasn't added to the top level of my stair. I would use the floor as the last riser.

Depends on your stair type.
If non monolithic stair, you can tab to select the top run and untick End with Riser box.
If monolithic stair and no riser is assigned to the run type then there shouldn't be any issue whether you tick that box or not.

Well, if you want to use the floor as the last riser, then I don't think you want to uncheck End with Riser. Are you perhaps wondering how to delete the last riser without affecting the actual rise (that is, the distance of last tread from the top of floor)?
Unchecking the End with Riser box was unsuccessful. See attached files for screenshots.
After selecting end with riser, you should adjust the relative height of the flight then go back to the stair from outside and make sure the desired number of risers matches the actual number of riser.

I followed the steps as directed and I have a stair without a tread at the top level. Thank you. Below is a screenshot of the stair after making the adjustments as instructed.
