I'm having trouble opening/loading tags - specifically, a furniture tag

I am using Revit 2024 LT, following the step by step process to load a furniture tag, but I keep getting this message:

Are you looking for content _ go to www dot autodesk dot com slash revit content or use Load Autodesk Family.rfa

How do I load Autodesk Family.rfa?  I can't figure it out.  I have tried to load what I see on the menu, but I think it's an incorrect format.  It just keeps asking me to load it.  what am I missing?

Thank you,

Juliet

My normal method: (same as above really just different route)

wisedrawing_0-1692759413408.png

you will need to find your library and see where the furniture tag is, if its not an actual furniture tag it wont accept it and ask you to load it again. see if you can find the actual 'furniture tag' in the library files

then once its on the screen you load it into the project:

once its on the screen you can check its family category and parameter up here / if it is a furniture tag (or whatever category it will match what you are tagging:

if you need to upload a library content as you don't have anything in the library that different, but I don't think that's your issue is it?

you can make a furniture tag if you don't have one, its quite easy

you just have to edit a generic tag and allocate a family category  of Furniture Tag for it:

Thank you! I hadn't ever seen that before this release. I was able to find all the tags under Annotations in this location.

I found a list of tags under Annotations once I clicked "Load Autodesk Family" - I was looking in "Load Family", as that is where all my families used to be in earlier versions. I'm still getting used to the changes in 2024. I'm not sure what "Load Family" will be for, as it just keeps giving me the message "Are you looking for content _ go to www dot autodesk dot com slash revit content or use Load Autodesk Family.rfa". I feel a bit dense that I didn't see Load Autodesk Family right next to it. I'm a creature of habit, I guess. Thank you for your help.

It might be that it was already in your template for projects and its now reset so you are reloading them again now as they are not sitting ready to go.

don't feel dense as we are only good at what we do regularly all the time and there seems to be plenty of room for learning, certainly that's what I find

Can you do a screen shot of this different with the load family and load Autodesk family? I am interested to see if it looks different somehow, if you feel like it.

I actually have not actioned 2024 yet its in my Autodesk box and I don't have a minute to deal with any new stuff, and everything works fine for now. I normally wait months before I go into the new year software 🙂

It is right next to it, but I have never seen it in previous versions.  I've always just used "Load Family".  I'm not sure why the change, because Load Family doesn't seem to have anything in it - just that message.  It's annoying to me.  I'm sure there is a reason, but I haven't figured it out.  Hope this helps you.

Ha yeah its in the 2023 version

I suppose I never saw it as I always use my other route but I am making an extra step as I then have to load into project after that, just how I learnt it.

2023:

I just tested this and it worked by using load family it went to my library

when I use load Autodesk Family it takes me to the cloud system (as that one has a cloud)

I think the Load Family should load something in your library, where as the load Autodesk with the cloud is loading off the Autodesk cloud:

above off the library on your hard drive

above has the cloud so its going to the cloud:

this route is does not show an option except to open the family:

my usual method above only gets me to my library on the hard drive

interesting

looks like you are set up differently (if you are solo in home office like me then its just a hard drive)

if you are networked you might have a different set up

but again solo it might be you are set up to grab stuff from the cloud??

all very intriguing

cheers

Since Revit 2022, a lot of offline content is not installed by default. If you really want offline content, you can download the 2024 content from the link below.
