How can I divide the project into different parts? Arch, MEP, Structure, Furniture . Do I have to go and pick each element one by one?

The file is way too heavy.

… hi @Anonymous

… maybe there are a couple of ways to do that

… my approach would be

…. copy your original .rvt and name it ARCH

…. make a copy of that .rvt for each construction / consultant document that will you need

…. rename those copies STRUCTURE, MEP, FURNITURE, etc

project.jpg

… at the end you will be linking all of these into the ARCH .rvt

… so you won’t have an issue with insertion points or getting the consultant layouts off site / place

…  option a  -  open one by one

…. create a new 3dview in each one (showing everything)

….grab everything in the project and chose filter

filter (1).png

filter (2).png

…. but be careful because sometimes some elements or families are not in the right category

…. especially the generic models

… delete all you don’t need in each of the new created files

…. at the end link all files into ARCH

... hi @Anonymous

… option b  -  (I personally prefer this option)

....open each new file and start picking and deleting what it’s not included in that specific category

…. or you can make a mix of filter and this option

…. leave just what it is needed for that specific file category

….. takes more time but it is more safe

… do that for each file … and save it

…. and as said before… at the end you need to link those into the ARCH.rvt file

… then you’ll have a model way more light

…. and divided into all consultant / construction drawings

… also you can PURGE each file … ( be extremely selective )

… but do it at the end, that way you won’t lose any info.

oh gosh it will take your century before you can separate them? my suggestion is to save them into separate files and use eyeglass icon to isolate category and  delete families/objects, but you must know which one is which. goodluck. thanks
