I can't edit a label in a title block can't figure out why.

Hi,

I have a titleblock in Revit 2014 that has fields that one can double click on them and then edit the desired text.  Works great!

Just upgraded the same title block to Revit 2017, load into project (2017) everything went great until I tried to double click on a field!  It doesn't seem to want to work in this version of Revit.  each of te question marks are set up so one can readily click on it and type away!

Can someone please help, I had this drawing I had to print this afternoon and am now 2 hours late!

Add those shared parameters used for the labels yo the project.

Each label with a question mark references a shared parameter in the title block family and has not been loaded in the project. Open the family and edit each one and check see what it is and add them to the project. Do a search on shared parameters to understand how they work.

First of all you have to edit the titleblock family. Click on the titleblock, and then click Edit Family. You will be taken to the family editor.

In the family - click on the label that is giving trouble and click Edit Label. In this window you will be able to see the name of the parameter that is driving the label. You can edit the parameter and see what kind of parameter it is and where it comes from. It will be from a Shared Parameter.txt file 

Go back to your project. Click Manage>>Project Parameter. Scroll through the list and check if the parameter you found in the family is there. Make sure that it is associated to Sheets and the checkbox next to Sheets is checked. Edit the parameter to make sure that it is coming from the same file. It is entirely possible for there to be two completely different parameters with the same name. If the parameter is different (as it seems to be) then delete the old parameter and reload it from the Shared Parameter.txt file

That was a great attempt!  Thank you.  I tried, but didn't find the file in he Project parameters.  I've attached what I'm seeing from both files.

In your Project Browser - do you see the parameters that were there in the titleblock labels? Click on it and click Modify.

To see Shared Parameter - below the Project Parameter button you will see a button for Shared Parameters. That will show you the Shared Parameters that exist in the project.

There is no default location - you would need to either contact your BIM manager to find the location or create a new file. You can navigate to the location of the Shared Parameters file or run a search for it.

 If you create a new Shared Parameters file, then recreate the Shared Parameter (it will be an instance based text parameter), delete the old parameters and reload them.

If you don't have the Shared parameters then just edit the family > Manage > Shared Parameter > Create: and save it to an accessible folder.  See the entire steps from the picture sequence below:

That was a handful, thanks! I was given a Titleblock to use without a Shared Parameters file and was at my wits end trying to get that text to be editable! I will forever be amazed at how difficult Revit makes some seemingly simple things. I'm sure I will be coming back to this one again.  Thanks Toan.

Did not work for me. Revit 2025 don't have Parameter Type > Export. It now has Parameter Services. Could not get this to work.
