I can't apply lights in the ceiling

Where is the ceiling? I am drawing it with automatic ceiling, but I can’t see it

And if I try to upload a light it is not doing nothing just showing this symbol    Ø

… hi @Anonymous

… did you checked the height of your ceiling?

… let’s try this one:

...go to plan view

…. Click in ceiling

… choose one – automatic or sketch

… draw the ceiling by getting inside the walls

… when you pick a light to apply

… it goes like this

Picture2.png

…its because the ceiling is in a lower/higher level than the range view

… go to a section view and click in your ceiling

… change the height to a desire one

…. Go back to plan view

… and re-apply the lights

I am having a similar issue, except that its only creating the hole that the can light sits in, but not even showing the hole, unless I highlight that portion of the ceiling.  Also all my other types of lights will not show up, sconces or pendant. This is the message I get when trying to inset it...

"None of the created elements are visible in Reflected Ceiling Plan: XXX View. You may want to check the active view, its Parameters, and Visibility settings, as well as any Plan Regions and their settings."

How ever all my previous placed light are there and fine and movable.

Things I've tried...

1. Coping a can light from a room next door with the same ceiling height.

2. Recreating the ceiling and double checking the height of the can light to match ceiling.

Does the ceiling that is not accepting light fixture families have a visible surface pattern?  I vaguely recall some years back having an issue with placing a light fixture on a ceiling, and it was because there was no surface pattern assigned, so apparently Revit did not "see" it.  Adding one allows the fixtures to be attached.

Also, are your light fixture families ceiling based or face based?  If face based, make certain that Revit is not looking for vertical faces.
