I am curious about the role and use of stair family types.

I know that stair shape settings are done in ‘Assembled Stairs’, ‘Cast-in-Place Stairs’, and ‘Precast Stairs’.

So what do you set up and use in ‘stairs’?

When I create a staircase, I can't select the type I created in 'Stairs'.
I can select only the types created in ‘Assembled Stairs’, ‘Cast-in-Place Stairs’, and ‘Precast Stairs’.
I'm curious about what 'stairs' are used for.

they are all part of the Stair Type. 

• select your Stair Run
• pick Edit Type
  • in the Type: option there are options
  • in those options there is a Construction category
  • under the Construction category are 2 different stair type options for Run and Landing.
