Huge problem ... Error while link/import cad - 1E9 error

Dea all

i have a problem that appeard for the first time ever since am using the revit in around 3 years

The link/import cad file into Revit Archi

i receive the message the geometry has extents greater than 1E9

as a start am using Autocad MEP 2013 and Revit 2015

I Searched online for solutions but all have faild, i tried

  • Purging
  • Wblock
  • Make all the lines and blocks on the same layer
  • Save as DXF and back to DWG
  • more purging
  • made the drawing on (0,0,0) and (0,0,1)
  • audit
  • Tried to remove as most as i can from the drawing

and until now i cant link or import the drawing into cad

when i try to import i choose

  • Colours : Black and white
  • Layer/level : All
  • import units : millimeter
  • Position : Auto center
  • Place at : level 1

i linked many DWG files by these new drawings are killing me

can anyone help ?

Thanks in Advance

What happened when you ZOOM Extent the CAD drawing in AutoCAD?  When insert in revit, try manual center to center instead of auto.

Tried everything
now i even tried moving the drawings to a new drawing layout
even no blocks, just lines

no success

Do me a favor, ZOOM Extent your drawing in AutoCAD, measure a diagonal distance from one corner to another on your AutoCAD screen, and post it along with a screenshot of that screen.

Well i found a solution that worked fine here (until now)

1. move all the drawing to a new drawing layout (dont make select all [CTRL A], but select by mouse)
2. if you have a block or Xref - edit block - then copy all the lines inside the editor and paste it in the new drawing
(for me also i named all of them under 1 layer which is wrong move by me)
3. the Trick in the import cad option, DONT use "import units : millimeter" or meter or inch, make it Custom Factor and put the VALUE : 1.000000

Worked and finally after 4 hours of trying

This was super helpful!! Thank you so much!

I had a DWG file exported from ArchiCad, and it was giving the same error "Geometry has extents greater than 1E9".

The problem was with the blocks, apparently the DWG exported from Archicad was full of blocks.

So I opened the DWG file in Autocad, selected the entire drawing and gave the "EXPLODE" command, which converted everything into simple lines, and IT WORKED FINE IN REVIT!!

THANKS!!

One can also use the Erase command, type A (all), type R (remove), and window select the entities that need to remain, hit enter. Then zoom extents.  This deletes entities far far away.

Hi Pro!

You can try select all line, text and set position z = 0.

Thank you!

I also had the 1E9 error when attempting to import AutoCad Option in Revit and I corrected it by doing the following:

- First I moved the work in the auto cad file to the coordinates 0,0.

- Second I ran the flatten command: Remove hidden lines, no.

Auto Cad Message: There are polylines without 2D vertices, that have been given them.

-Third I imported my file regularly at the files 1/8" = 1'-0" scale.

Regards.

Hi,

Thanks for the fix. Worked for me as well but, i just copied the entire drawing into new file and linked into Revit.

I also noticed that, sometimes when i try to import higher version CAD file in to lower Revit version ( Tried ACad 2023 file in to Revit 2021) i had some import issues and when i save as the dwg into 2018 or lower and the drawing linked properly.

Regards

Doesn´t work for me. The geomery in the file still extents greater than 1E9. Data is truncated.

@kbkM7Q2K , the above mentioned solution works for most cases. I had the same issue couple of times. These were the few options helped me

-Try copying the drawing content (just select with mouse) to another drawing.

-Set units to Millimiters/meters (sometimes it shows unitless).

-Try saving the the Acad file 2018 or lower. Sometime if Acad saved file version is highr than revit, it gives some trouble.

Hope this helps.☺

Thanks for the advice. I exported it as Autocad 2013 format. I don't know if that did the trick, but it worked for me.

The flatten command is what fixed it for me. Thanks!
