I have a gable that is positioned, assumedly, above a beam, and the part of the sloped roof at front cannot be taken out and cannot even be modified with the roof profile tools (See attached PDF). I get errors messages all the time stating this and that (that the roof will be deleted, etc.). Eventually the desired end result will be to attach the perpendicular roof of the exterior canopy to the sloped roof of the building behind the gable, that can be done without any issues, these can be joined together using the roof joint tool. In the attached rendering, I separated the two sloped roofs temporarily to show the condition with the sloped roof below at front of the gable that cannot be modified.
The rendering might look OK without the modification, but when looked from the ground floor below up to that area, which is the entrance to the building, that part of the sloped foot at the front of the gable shows, so that is the curiosity of finding out how to modify it so that it would not show up.

Hard to understand the issue or challenge you are describing. Is this an over-frame or dormer condition? If it's a dormer condition, there are a couple of approaches. Dormer Tool might get you there. Modifying the first roof's sketch boundary and adding Slope Arrows might be another approach.
Want to post the file? I can show you.
