How to stop families appearing in the RCP

I noticed that on some projects the families appear on the RCP. Does anyone know the reasons this occurs and how to manage, to stop appearing in said RCP.

See image below.....

Try using VG and/or a View Template to hide the category.

It could also be a View Range/Cut Plane issue where the object is being cut. Try adjusting View Range and see if it still appears.

It depends how high the family is relative to the RCP cut. The easiest way to stop family to appearing in the RCP would be to hide it in object categories. If you want to ensure family don't show and not turn off anything in the object category, it is more difficult because it depends on how that family was built. Often I've seen invisible model line triggers the object to appear on RCP.

Something in the family is being cut by your View Range Cut Plane.  Open the family an see if there is a element that is being intersected by your View Range Cut Plane.

....what category is the Family?  Some Family Categories display differently than others.

I have a workaround for you that may help. Create a subcategory in the family. I called mine "hide in RCP". Select the shapes/elements in the family you want to hide in the RCP. Load it into the project. In the visibility settings for your view or view template, turn off the subcategory. You could also override the style if you wanted to see it dashed.
