Hi,
Is there any way to show sum of few rooms' areas in one room tag? Most of the time this is the issue in case of toilet rooms. We have few separate rooms near each other that on the plan, are tag as one toilet.
I know that I can split walls where the doors are and uncheck make room boundary for them. Unfortunatelly thi will give wrong area because it will add also areas beneath the doors. Below is some example of such a situation.
I'm not aware of a method using Room Tags that would retain the Unbounded Wall area component. Room Tags cannot currently be multi-leadered so I don't believe you could do a multileader tag with a summed area either.
What we would do for MEP systems would be to use Spaces and HVAC Zone components - a Zone tag carries the Gross Area value of its contained Spaces:
This might serve as a one-off workaround, but hopefully someone can chime in with an architectural component method.
I don't believe you can do this with a tag.
The only other option is via schedules by using a room parameter or project parameter set to rooms and then use sorting/grouping options.
Thank you guys for quick respond but non of this solve my problem. First one assume that there will by mix of rooms and other elements like spaces what I want to avoid and second one make it works only in schedule, not on the plan view. It seems that the only hope is in some Dynamo magic ![]()
As suggested earlier, use Spaces (for rooms) and HVAC Zone for the grouping, then tag the Zone. Repeat for all the room groups (Zone) and tag.
