How to set timing of walkthrough keyframes properly?

I am trying to make a walktrough animation

But my problem is i can't figure out how to edit the timing properly

In the keyframe edit window, i can only edit the "accelerator" value

But it would be 200% easier to just edit the 'elapsed time' value and the 'total time' values.

For example if i want to make the time between frame 1-5 to be 10 sec, and the 5-9 to be 20 sec, i have to use these "accelerator" values , but they change all the frames pretty unpredictably, like if i speed up a keyframe, it'll make all others super slow, so i'll have to adjust those too.

Is there any good strategy to edit these timing values?

As I understood these settings work as follow:

  • the Total Time is a result of  Total Frames (number) divided by the number of Frames per Second (usually between 15 and 60-, as I remember 60 is for movies)
  • now, the total number of frames Path is split into multiple "segments" by KeyFrames, each segment containing an equal number of Frames for Uniform Speed
  • If you use Accelerator between two Key Frames , then the number of Frames inbetween  will decrease  and the speed will grow, and this will modify also the time on this segment , without to affect the Total Time.
  • so both the Total Time and Elapsed Time are items calculated by Revit using: Total Frames, Frames pe Second and Accelerator on certain segments between KeyFrames...

...additionally, because the camera must travel along the complete path during the walkthrough, a change to the Accelerator value in one keyframe will slightly modify the Speed in the other key frames.

Yes, this is in order to get a smother camera travel.

I figure Revit works here, as it does when editing a Grid matrix of Nodes( in Mass Editor). When you move a Node , this will also affect the neighbor nodes on a certain area, and the final surface will be a smooth one.

I can't stop to think how MAX works with Meshes editing them at the Vertex Level. You can ,in this case, even chose the number of neighbor vertex affected by the movement. This allows you to control the smoothness degree..

I am new to walkthroughs. Even though I change the number of frames per second, and the total time changes, the animation plays as if there were no changes. Any idea what I'm missing?
