How to select specific object types without having to select anything first?

Hello!

Simple workflow question:

If I want to select, say, all the windows in the scene, I have to select every scene object first, then use the 'Filter' popup dialog to switch off anything but 'Window'.

Is it possible to do the same without having to select anything first? Because the bigger the scene gets, the more time-consuming this is.

Like bring up some filter dialog, check 'Windows', and press 'Select'.

Thanks!!

Select one element, use the glass icon down the bottom and choose isolate category.

You're right - I have to select object(s) of the needed type first.

However, the 'Isolate Category' way comes close enough to what I was looking for. After all, if I first select from a list of types or in the viewport does not make much of a difference.

Appreciate your tip, too! The question here is, how do I go back to the Visibility settings before?

Thanks!

For selecting all of one TYPE... right-click on a Window and choose one of the Select All options from the context menu.
