How to reduce text background (white fill/masking) in dimensions?

Hi, I am trying to move the text on my dimensions closer to the dimension line using the "Text Offset" parameter in the type properties. However, when I do this the masking of the text also masks the dimension line when the dimension is at an angle. I need the masking on (I can't just change the text type to transparent). Does anyone know of a way to reduce the amount of white space behind the text in a dimension? Thanks!

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results

Annotation text is scale based...the only way to influence the masking background is by changing offset and text height with respect to the Scale

If your intent is to get a hairline gap between bottom of the text and the dimension line, then that is not possible. You would need to model your own dimension string as a line based component
