Hi there,
Can anyone lease give me tips how to reduce revit file size?
I have imported quite a lot of furnitures from sketch up and revit furnitures.
The file seems to be very slow and difficult to work with.....not responding.
My file is too big 455,456 KB.
Thank you for your help. Have a great day![]()

I would purge the file first. Also sketchup or any CAD import tends to bloat your file. I would replace them with native Revit family. If you cannot do that, then you would create workset and place the those CAD/Sketchup import into workset. Then when you open up Revit file, you can turn off those CAD/Sketchup workset so it won't load.
check this previous thread and see if helps. thanks
Hi Syman, I know how to purge sketch up file but how do you purge revit file.
Thanks
Go to manage>Purge unused
As well when you saved, you can set to compact file
Don't purge unless you know what you're doing. It's most likely not going to help much and may get rid of stuff you need.
Your imported objects are the most likely the cause. Focus on deleting them and replacing with native Revit elements or link them. Once the items are deleted, there are probably a lot of categories that will need to be deleted. Most likely a lot of them won't purge and will need to be deleted manually or with Dynamo or a third party application.
Thank you. I have just reduced my file from 45ooo to 10000.

You do not need to reduce the size for better performance and definitely not a file which is 45MB !!

The file is too slow and not responding. I have no choice but to reduce the size.
Thank you for your comment.
You always have a multitude of choices sometimes a simple search gives you plenty to work with...Purge is always the last of them (that's if if it is about only about model slow performance)...45,000kb model is pretty much tiny ![]()
