I'm trying to make a floor finishing concept with Revit. I have various textures (usually in size of 300x300 px) for different types of floors. The problem is that when I zoom out to see the whole floor, the textures are not very visible - only the overall color of the floor is visible - one can not tell what is the floor really made of.
I tried to solve it by making the texture files very big, but it does not solve the probllem for all of the cases.
You can use a drafting pattern to indicate different materials under type properties of a floor, choose the one that is appropriate to the scale of your views.
It will also be scaled while zooming however it will keep it's size in relation to a view scale when it changes. Drafitng pattern may be a better solution over image files that can slow down your computer.
Thanks for replying. I tried to follow your solution. Went to floor type properties, but there are only drafting patterns for coarse scale adn there is no way to attatch a texture to it.
You have to assign a drafting pattern as a surface pattern to a material used as a finish under Structure>Edit in type properties of a floor.
I might be missing something here, but it still only allows me eihter to use one of the hatch patterns that are already there or import one.
Choose any existing drafting pattern.
Thank you very much for the feedback but I still think that I am missing something. I have chosen some surface pattern, then tried to align the texture which did not work (when I clicked on the arrows nothing happened). I applied the changes bu there was no change on my project view. I though that it is maybe because of the Detail Level but everything stayed the same when I changed it.
Have you switched to realistic to see a texture in a view?
Texture is repositioned with arrows in a view even if you can not see changes in a material editor which happens if your surface pattern is a drafting pattern.
Yes, I am in realistiv view. I am still not sure though if I am following your thoughts properly. Would you like maybe to make a screencast showing what you have in mind? I would really apprieciate that.
Could you tell which element is causing you a problem:
- fill pattern
- texture ?
It would help to know what you are actualy trying to achive right now after applying a drafting pattern to a floor.
