How to plit an elevation vertically just like a section

Hi there,

  • Considering that in the field of architecture, an elevation is basically the same thing as a section placed ouside a geometry, thus not cutting through that geometry
  • Considering that in the field of architecture, it is important differentiate those 2 types of views
  • Considering that technically, both Revit tools do the same thing, except for the symbols used in the typical view where they represented (plan and elevation for sections, plan only for elevations)
  • Considering that an elevation can be "split" in a plan view, and a section in a vertical view (section or elevation)
  • Considering I want to avoid workarounds such as merging two different elevations on the elevation sheet and using dummy elevation tags, or anything similar

Why is it an elevation can't be split vertically just like a section?

See my desired intention attached.

Big love to anyone who helps resolve this

@mcoquereau Sections and Elevations can be split horizontally or vertically, but not in any other way.

In the example you provided, you could create a custom boundary for your elevation as you have shown and create a callout for the minor elevation.
Does that help?

Like Mark_Engwirda said, just make two elevation views or a callout, etc. They are basically different facades anyways.
