How to not split mullion in the same gridline

Hello

Here is my problem: I am modelling a curtain wall and I need to take-off the lenght of each single mullion to be manufactured. However. even if I make a mullion continuos at joints, each segment in the same gridline will still be counted as individual mullion in the schedule. I have a horizontal mullion (continuos at joints) and I cannot take-of the total dimension of it. Does anyone has faced the same as me? How can I solve it?

Note: sorting/grouping by mullion type and then calculating totals would be a solution in general cases, BUT it does not help for the situation that I have.

Thanks all

There are a couple of ways:

  1. Select a mullion, right click and choose Select all on grid, give them the same Mark.  Group them in the schedule by Mark with un-itemized instances, and calculate totals.
  2. Don't add grids to where you want the mullion to be continued, but using a nested curtain wall type in lieu of curtain panel and add grids in the nested curtain wall.

I did not know it was possible to use nested curtain walls. It will attend my needs.

Thank you for your help!!!

For scheduling the lengths of sloped top-edge panels, I thought to schedule the mullions instead. But when I create a single-segment horizontal grid line to make a door or a window, it splits up all the vertical mullions, making the whole scheduling process useless.

Could you please let me know if the second option you proposed would work here?

Thank you.
