Hi Everybody,

in Project Browser one has the possibility to group and sort views according to their parameters.

To my opinion, once you insert a sorting level, all views with that parameter have to have value for that parameter.

If not, Revit is going to group those views with empty field for that parameter under "???".

This Force you to set a parameter for that view. But it doesn't make sense always.

E. g. imagine you want to group your views based on a parameter called level (not the associated level), which you have defined manually. So far so good for the ground floors, but what are you going to do for your 3d views.

Is there any way to skip a sorting or grouping level, once the parameter is empty, according to which a sorting level has to take place?

Thank you.

this applies to both views and sheets.

you have the option to how your Project browser is organized.

typically you will have a sorting Parameter, these can be customized to whatever complexity or simplicity you want.

Discipline - Architecture

Sub Discipline - Furniture, Finishes, Interior , Exterior etc.

View Purpose - Working view (NOT ON SHEET), Sheet view (ON SHEET) EXISTING,DEMO, TEMPORARY, FUTURE etc.

Family - Floor Plan, Reflected Ceiling Plan, Elevation, Section etc.

these examples are only examples this has always been a topic of discussion with many different users.

the whole ??? thing is to let the user know these views or sheets NEED to be Sorted and organized within the project.

many options to consider and they can vary from Project to Project.

I would never not use the built in Associated Level to sort and organize my Project browser.

No.  The levels of grouping will be the same.  You either accept ??? or you assign a value to those Views (such as All Levels, or N/A, etc...)
