How to modify a component to have dashed lines in plan view

I am trying to show my component (vending machine) with dashed lines in the plan view to show that it is NIC.

edit the  family

  • draw a Symbolic Line box in the reference plan view using a dashed line style
  • select the modeled content and pick the Visibility setting from the ribbon
  • uncheck the Plan/RCP option.
  • Load into Project

By "Component", do you mean the Vending Machine is a Loadable Model Family? If so, I'll throw in a couple of additional steps to @hmunsell's award-winning post:

  • Create two (2) Yes/No Parameter named "NIC" and "IC"
  • Type the following into the "IC" Parameter Formula field:    not(NIC)
  • Select all the 3D geometry and associate their "Visibility" Parameters to  the "IC" Parameter.

That's the meat and potatoes of it.  Now the Family can be an "NIC" and an "IC" Family by simply toggling the "NIC" checkbox.

FWIW.  😉
