How to model a ribbed dome?

Hello! I am trying to model a structure with a ribbed dome but I am having a hard time exploring how to model it. I can easily use Revolve and make a sphere but I wanted to explore if I can achieve this kind of look (an image is attached). I haven't tried using Swept Blend but it seems to be an arduous task. I would appreciate suggestions and tips. Please note that the second image is not the same structure as the first image but has the same type of dome that I wanted to model.

It is not a revolve because it is not round. It is not a swept blend because the elevation view does not connect top and bottom with a straight line. So, it needs to be done with other methods. Constantin has shown below good methods to model this. If you're modeling the dome shown in that photograph, remember that the base, the middle, and the top shapes are regular octagons. So, basically, if you place 3 regular octagons with their proper proportions and locations, and then do Create Form, you get the basic shape. Then you model the ribs, extruding a profile along the edges made with the octagons. Then you model the lantern and put it at the top, as Constantin showed in his videos.

Create a mass with 2 curves then create form from them.  Create roof by face by picking the surface of the form. Array radially to create the complete roof.

Or just create one curve in a mass, array to create a complete set of ribs. Create a form from each two curves. Create a roof by face and pick each surface.
