How to manage large revit links?

I have multiple building linked Revit files, with each having their own nested links attached. For the most part there are no issues, but sometimes I hove to use views that encompass all the links (total of 6 individual Revit model links) and everything comes to a grinding halt. I have as many worksets turned off as possible, as many components turned off in Visibility Graphics as I can (Ie furniture, entourage, lighting fixtures, etc) but still no success. Any suggestions welcome. Thanks.

You have to do some troubleshooting to see if you can improve it.

-Check if it is an issue is one or more linked files. Add the links one by one to the view and see if it is related to a particular linked file.

-Load the linked files standalone and see how they perform.

-Load the links in a different (new and clean) project and see how it performs.

-What about the sizes of the linked files (and the total size)? Might be a memory issue.

-Does it help when using cropped views/section boxes/scope boxes?

-Enough space on your hard drive?

-What happens on a different computer?

Please mention Revit version, especially when uploading Revit files.

Close worksets >< Turn off worksets. The former is better for performance.

@L.Maas Yes to all those as already verified. The file sizes are indeed pretty large but I don't know that there is anything that can be done about that. I am running a machine with an i7/quadro  P600 and 16gb RAM. The links are consultant files on BIM 360.

@ToanDN Yea. I've minimized the worksets to the essential ones and that has indeed helped somewhat. Not sure what else can be done at this point. I wish there was some kind of simplify function for plan views that just reduced the load (like a flat 2d version of the model - is't that the point of a plan view after all)

16 GB is too little for any projects bigger than a house. Try 64.

@ToanDN  I wasn't aware that Revit ate so much RAM. This is very helpful. Thanks. Yea, we have six multi-story buildings living on one campus so that's likely the culprit. I just gotta download some ram now.

Thanks.
