Hi,
I am currently working on a project in Revit and I have run into the issue of needing to make section cut annotations that are not connected to an actual section view rather just a sort of a place holder. The unassociated cuts would represent certain AutoCAD drawings that already exist. Thanks for the help!
hi @Anonymous,
Here is the "official" workflow:
Create a new section, and reference a drafting instead of creating a new view. Here is a screenshot of the display when you are creating the new section:
You can then import your dwg into the drafting view, or just use it as an empty page!
Hope this helps,

That worked well for what I am doing. However is there a way to type in the head of the section cut?
Well, you could use a shared parameter?
That way you can add a parameter to your view and its content can display in the level head... or should...

Sorry, my bad, it doesn't work.
What you could do is use one of the already available parameters...

So I made my own section head as a detail drawing but when I load it into the main model the text becomes uneditable. Is there a way to make each head editable separate from each other? Picture attached may help you understand my problem a bit more.
Either make a "dummy" annotation object that looks like a section mark, with editable labels -OR- create a dummy sheet in Revit with the same drawing number as your AutoCAD sheet, onto which you place the referenced drafting views, and give those placed views the corresponding detail number assigned in AutoCAD. You do not want to plot this dummy sheet; it is only there to provide the sheet and detail numbers to the section mark.
And once it's created how do we move the ''SIM'' symbol under the letter ?
Thanks in advance
When I select my new section mark, "Reference other view" is greyed out. What am I doing wrong?
