Working on a student structural project. I am trying to make a truss at an angle on a pin joint on revit. I haven’t really made a truss before on revit, so is there any direction on how I can make a truss similar to my hand drawing on revit?
Start a new family from Structural Trusses family template then sketch top chord, bottom chord, and webs how you want the truss to look. After loaded in the project, you can edit the truss type and assign different structural framing member types to chords and webs.
The easiest method would be to load an OOTB Truss, such as the Howe, into the Project and place an instance in Plan View. Then go to the Elevation View that is viewing the face of the Truss, set the Work Plane, and draw two Roofs by Extrusion that represent the shape of the Top and Bottom Truss Chords. The Howe Truss should be sandwiched in-between both Roofs at this point. Now select the Howe Truss and use the Attach Top/Base tool (on the contextual tab) to attach the top and base of the Truss to the Roofs.
... here's one video that shows this method. There are others on-line.
