How to make a door with close or open options?

I have downloaded one from RevitCity.com but that one is only working in plan view. I need that for some 3d views as well. In 3d view is always closed.

Thank you very much.

… hi @Anonymous

… follow these steps

… to create a fully parametric

door to open and close at any angle

Thanks. How about the handle?

I’ve tried some other youtube links. Nothing works. How to make the handle open with the door? I’ve imported, pasted, constrained a standard lever.

Or the door open gets screwed or the handle is not moving at all.

Please let me know what to do?

… hi @Anonymous

… it is kind of a complicated situation

… try this create a door with handle

… look at this door with handle

… see how it was done

... this is a parametric door with handle that you can do some reverse engineering

... it was downloaded from revitcity.com as well and is working 100 % ⇩ ⇩ ⇩ ⇩ ⇩

- Make the handle a face based family

- Make the door panel a non-host family, dimensions are instance parameters

- Load the handle in the door panel family and host it on a face, constraint the height and the distance from edge

- Create a wall based door family with a door frame and cut opening, but no panel. Add a ref line on plan to control the swing angle

- Load the door panel family in the door family, host it on the ref line, associate parameters so the panel size flex with the opening size

I’ve created following all the links a door. It is opening and closing almost fine everytime. I also created a handle in a face host family. I inserted the family into the family and when I am opening and closing the door it gets completely messed up.

Here are the two components for you to try and if you can do it please explain to me step by step or as better as you can.

Sorry to bother you guys. Really apperciate.

I know that you think is pretty easy , not for me. Kind of confused.

Yes that door is working as you said. I would like to know how it was done?

Really thank you very much for the effort. I've going back and forth with this getting crazy.

I did something like this one that you are giving me. When I am opening and closing the door gets meesed up all over the place. I just tryed 0, 45, 90 degrees and when you close look at the results.

You can try these with your door . There is something missing.

That is why I suggested to create the panel as a nested family.

THANK YOU. Looks like it is perfectly working.

Just to get all information you just loaded the handle family and then create these two constrained parameters as in the picture?

Anything else?constrained.jpg

Load the handle and place one on each side of the panel. You can do it on a plan view or a 3d view. I add a flip to the handle so you can flip it L/R. If it is buried in the panel then select it click on the reverse workplane symbol. Then place dims from the edge of the panel to the center of the handles and give them the parameter. It is so you can change in project, if the distance is fixed then you don't need the parameter, just lock the dims. Do the same for the elevation of the handles.
