Hi all,
I'm working on a rendering. Assigned a bunch of materials on one system. I opened the file on a different computer, and the materials were gone. I was under the assumption that once the material was loaded, it was part of the file; I guess I was wrong. What's the process for taking materials with you when you move to a new computer?
Reason I ask is I'm teaching a class where students start the project in the computer lab, then finish on their own time and their own computers, they need to be able to take the materials with them.
Thanks!
hello, you can try to refer to these LINK and LINK. thanks
I created a new library on the original computer that had all the material information, I took that material library file to the new computer and the image appearances were still not available. They were looking for the original image files. I guess I need to keep a folder of all image files I use?
Thanks for the help.
When I create a custom material using an image file (texture image), where should I save that image file (.jpg) so that the link won't be broken on a different computer?
hello, please see screen cast video, you image file will be embedded to your file even though you open your file in different computer. thanks
sorry wrong screen cast. thanks
Store image files related to a project in one location.
If you need to send a project file to a team member, you can also send the directory containing its image files.
yes, revit still has limitations. thanks
