How to hide lines after cutting steel profiles?

These are 2D lines placed in the family. 

  • You either need to treat them from within the family 
  • Or you need to use linework tool and hide them using an invisible line

But then the lines showing the shelves of the channel will be hidden.

you can try a masking region over the lines you want to hide

the if the circles are also hidden use the bring to front command for them

It does not help with a large number of connections.

you only need to do this in your details 

unless you are creating a detail for every instance of a connection.

A couple of ways:

1. If the view is a section or elevation, use Linework tool to apply <Invisible lines> and use the grips to stretch the invisible extent where you want it to end.

2. Don't use lines in the family to present the member.  Set the 3d geometry in the family to be visible for all view orientations.
