How to Globally Hide Reference Planes From A Linked Model

Hi,

I am using Revit 2017.

I have a linked Structural Model that contains 976 ref planes.

I need to globally hide all of these linked in reference planes.

Is there a one click solution to do this?

I don't want to have to go into each of my 2000+ views and turn them off individually, or via the view graphics option, or via applying a view template or a filter.

I just want a one step solution to turn them all off.

Thanks in Advance.

Ask the structural consultant to clean up their model. There should be a workset for those reference planes that are important and have a name. Any other reference plane should be deleted. That should be part of the standards of the project.

Hi!

As I know, you can globally hide only "work set" from linked file if it have one.
Structural Model must be a model for Worksharing, and include a "work sets".

To put all reference planes in one "work set", you need to create some extra view inside Structural Model, it's task for couple of minutes.

Also, you can try to use Dynamo and Revit API but its a little bit tricky.

Yep. I had dismissed controlling via worksets as I didn't think reference planes could go onto a workset. Turns out I was wrong. Thank goodness.

Thank you both. May Friday bring a large cold beer, a perfect match and a conversation to remember.

I agree with Alfredo, they should be cleaning up there model before sending it to you.

With that many reference planes, I imagine most are unnamed? Dynamo will clean this up in 2 seconds.

I wrote the post below earlier in the year, using Dynamo to clean up unnamed reference planes. It's a single node from Konrad Sobon 'Archi-Lab.net' dynamo package. You mentioned your using 2017. Have you upgraded to 2017.1 yet? If they have, then its even easier with the dynamo player. File is attached, just click play.

Send them this and they will have no excuses! Smiley (fröhlich)
