I want to  export a “adsk” file from a revit  to the civil3d. in my opinion ,when import the “adsk” file to the civil 3d, the coordinate of the set point should be the same to the one of the survey point or the project point ,but it seems not . (As Show in the following pictures) every time I must to move the site to the correct location manually. What is the problem? How can I import the revit model to the civil 3d thought the adsk file in a more automatically way ?

HI, chengj

You can try according to the following steps:

  • Install the Civil 3D and Revit Extension "SHARED_REFERENCE"
  • In Civil 3D select an easy to identify point and define it as shared reference point
  • In Revit import the shared reference point as XML file and put it to the same location as in Civil 3D
  • In Revit make sure that the Project Basepoint and the defined Survey Point are at the same location
  • Export the construction to ADSK format
  • Import the construction in Civil 3D

Another workaround can be exporting the file to DWG (AutoCAD) using Shared Coordinates and then importing the DWG file to Civil 3D.

Thank you for you reply. But I can't follow your steps very well .Take the first step for example ,I relly can"t fine the  Revit Extension "SHARED_REFERENCE". where  could I get ? And in fact , last time in another project , We have export a .adsk file from revit to civil3D sucesfully without any problems .

any finally, I try to export the revit file to cad, but I fine the (0,0,0) point in CAD is in the same location of .adsk file.in another word, it is not in the survey point or base point .

however,it is not easy to express though the words . So I upload my error files(revit ,civil 3D and adsk file). Can you hepl me to see what is the problem.

Thank you for your reading.

Hi chengj,

Thank you for your question, and i test for your file, i am sorry to tell you that i cannot find the reason. And i  searched an article named"An ADSK file exported from Revit and imported in Civil 3D as Building Site has a wrong location"(i have email to you), and it suggests that you should Install the Civil 3D and Revit Extension "SHARED_REFERENCE" to solve this problem.

hope my information can help you.
