How to cut a geometry on a surface?

Hi,

When I use the command (Modify---> Cope) to cut tube on beam (as an example) I get as a result photo nr.1 because the diameter of the tube more than the height of the beam. In photo nr.2 I could cut the tube on the tube because the diameter is less than the height of the beam. Which command can help to cut a geometry on a surface of another geometry with regardless of the difference in dimension. In other words: I want to achieve the situation illustrated in photo nr.2 but for a tube with diameter bigger than the height of the beam.

Thanks

You can cut structural framing elements with reference planes, too, by using Cut Geometry.

Thanks alot. It works.

Is there any other way to do this. I am thinking here on more complicated situations when the shape of cuting not simple staight  line?

thanks

Another good tool is "Opening by face", which you can use to make special cuts in structural members.
