How to cut a Floor into three parts in Revit?

Hi to All,

I need to know if is it possible tu cut a floor duplicating the number of floors (as we can do with the walls, with the function "cut": cutting the wal, we will have two walls)

On the image I have to cut the floor on three parts (without drawing it another time).

Thats way I have two expansion joints on my structure

Thank you!Captura.JPG

But It doesn't cut the floor on twor floors.

I need to separate the floor on two floor (to put different characteristic on it)

So you need 2 different floors so they can become different types or just different finishes?

If it is just different finishes, you could just use the split face and then paint the different areas.

If it is 2 different floor types. the only way to really do what you need is place 2 floors.  if you already have the floor there and don't want to mess with the shape because it is complex, first cut the floor to the clipboard and than edit the boundary. Edit the boundary to where the joint is. Now paste the floor from the clipboard using the "paste Aligned to the same place" option. Now edit the boundary of the pasted floor. Repeat as necessary for the different floor areas. Now you have independent floors.

Last option would be to make parts from the floor. You can edit the boundary and material of the parts without affecting the "parent" floor. You need to manage visibility in this situation to show the parts instead of the original floor. This would let you maintain control over the over all floor, but have independent areas too.

Hi @TomasoCardia

You can use the ' by face' or 'shaft' in openings. See AKN article on how to Cut an Opening in a Floor, Roof, or Ceiling

unfortunately I have to cut it for the expansion joint (it will be built in different time), so I think I'll have to follow your council to copy and paste. The problem is that the floor is a structural floor so all the elements are connected each others Smiley (traurig)

Thank you anyway!

You didn't give the vital phasing information when you asked the initial question. A vertical opening works fine to create an expansion joint in one floor, but it is not going to split the floor and place the pieces in different phases for you.

If the floors will be built in different phases then either draw them as separate floors and change their phase, or create parts from one floor and change the phase for the parts.

Also, what exactly is " structural floor so all the elements are connected each others"?  if the floors are to be built in different phases then shouldn't their structure be separated?
