How to customize edit area and volume computations?

I hope I can explain in a way that makes sense. I have a client wanting the... I think the word is gross (?) area of the floor plan. Like this:

The purple line shows how I need it to be (those are just detail lines). Exterior walls on the outside, and interior walls in the middle of the wall. I need area to be as exact as possible. I went into the "area and volume computation" settings and ticked off "areas and volumes" and "at wall center". The rooms now show like this:

But is it somehow possible to customize this into the marking of the exterior wall being on the outside and the interior walls in the middle? Is there any other way to get the gross area correct?

You'll have to manually create an area plan for this.

You do not really need area plans for thet. You can do it using rooms as well.

A bit late to respond. Thank you for this, it's good having more ways than one with doing something, so I'll figure out what works best for this project of mine 🙂
