Hello there,
Apologies if this has been asked before.
I am currently trying to create walls with varying wall finishes. For example I have a Stud wall with tiles to 2400mm on one side and a paint finish to 2500 on the other side? I've made a wall type with the different layers of construction. I've tried to use stack walls but although I can adjust the finish height of the basic wall construction as a whole I am unable to move one finish independently to the other. I've currently used the split region tool to change the properties of part of the finish to air so that it is at a level different to the other finish? I can't believe that this would be the best way to do it.
Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Angus

Hello! Well if you open the edit type properties for the wall and open a sectional preview of the wall, if you select the modify tool and the bottom right. Then highlight the top of your tiles for example, it'll show a padlock. if you unlock it when you view your wall in section or 3D you can adjust the height of that wall layer independent of the rest of the wall. Hope this helps! any issues let us know!
Hi Wallace202,
Thanks for replying to my post!
That method is working when I have a wall where the structural element stops at the same height as one of the finishes. However the structural elements of my wall continue higher? I've tried to unlocking both finishes but I get a warning that unlocked elements need to be adjacent to each other? I've also tried to unlock all the different elements of the wall to try get around the adjacency problem, however then Revit just treats the wall as one element again and I can only edit the complete wall height in the 3D view.
I've also tried to follow your advice of unlocking one element, and then creating a stacked wall. This achieves my structural height however, even though its unlocked, I can't edit the finish heights?
Ah, that's a bit of a pain i thought it would let you do 3 separate layer heights! My alternative would be a stacked wall with three walls. with your structural section being the variable. I tested this one so i know it works! ![]()
HI,
Thanks for your advice ToanDN.
I think however with my limited Revit experience I am going to try using the 3 stacked walls method.
Thank you both for your advice. I'll let you know how I get on.
Angus
Hi,
Yeah good thanks. Sorry I totally forgot to let you know. It's a bit of a tedious process but its an easy process at least and its working well.
