Hello Revit masters,
I have been struggling with creating a complex surface in a vault family. Basically I am attempting a square vault with 4 centered arches on 4 sides and a cap dome with a sentimental arc profile.
So far I have been able to model the dome and the 4 centered arches successfully. but the problem comes with the space between the 2 arches and the top dome. The create tool either makes a sharp divider in the surface or doesn't follow the circular profile of the dome.
I attempted the same model in Rhino and it was a piece of cake. which is making me even more anxious that there HAS to be a way for this in Revit. I am attaching the rhino screenshots and two of my many attempts in Revit.
Any help regarding this would be very much appreciated.
Have a good day.

You mean something like this?
A way can be to create a first revolve cut with Voids to obtain a rectangular form and cut then with a cylinder tangent to the edges,
Finally create a last revolve dome over it...

another way two create the four pendentives by using Mass -Reference Points:

Thank You so much for the insight. I learned something new today. But unfortunately it didn't work as expected in my family. I am making an Adaptive Vault family and precision is key here. With your method I was able to generate the form but it wasn't following the arc edges accurately. I, then tried to increase the number of reference point to make the form accurate but it gave the error that the form cannot be created. I am attaching my family. Please take a look.
Thanks a lot.
you can also make a Mass Dome by using Lofts and then Cut it with Voids...as shown in my following screencast..more Profiles <> more precision..

using Loft , the mapping of Wall by Face is accurate- constructively correct:

That was the first thing I did today. Just wondering how you made that surface.
Please do let me know when you do make a video.
Have good day.
That is very impressive work with the formulas. Thank You so much for resolving the parameters and surfaces.
I really need to work on my trigonometry skills for this kind of modeling.
Thank You again. Have a good day.
