Can anyone advise on the simplest way of creating the cladding pattern that I have attached below? I know I can use curtain walls to do it but I don't want to as the curtain wall system in revit is too rigid to use.

What's the pattern? I don't readily see a pattern. Looks random to me. This is up to the designer.  Revit doesn't do design. Maybe someday though.

..as for how you do it, select a panel, unclip and replace the panel with another one.  Of course, first you need to add/remove/move grid line/mullions.

Yes, what I mean is the random layout of the cladding

I get that, but I really doubt that those panels are just haphazardly placed.

I wanted to find to out there would be another alternative way of doing it about from using curtain walls, the curtain walls in revit are too clunky and always cause issues when you've got walls and windows within the panels

I don't know what you want from Revit.  Revit doesn't doesn't run on autopilot.  Someone needs to drive it.  That's what we're paid the big buck to do...at least until AI takes our jobs.

Just use model hatch for the solid panel. Then use curtainwall grid to randomly split the panel and you should get the effect you see below.

No idea why it didn't work at your end. This is what I have display. What scale did you use when you scale the hatch? I use scale 120.
