How to copy entire level to another, creating another level in 3D

I am trying to copy an existing floorplan to a new level. I have copied the level creating a new one, but when I go into the 3D view, I only see one level.

And when I am on the 2nd level and I delete something, it also deletes from the first level. How do I stop that?

Did you mean to copy model objects from level 1 to level 2? you can make a selection of your model objects and then in the modify tab slide paste on the clipboard panel and then select aligned to selected levels and choose level 2.

If you duplicate a floor plan view like an instance the modifications that you make in a view will be reflected to the copy and viceverce

I didn’t want to have to completely redo the entire floorplan, so I was hoping to copy it and just make some minor adjustment to the second level.

Are you by any chance only duplicating a view?

If you want a new level, go into a section or elevation and make one.

Then after selecting the elements you want to copy, click the copy button and paste to selected levels.

only make a selection from desired objects and then you can save the selection to future clipbards selections

1.PNG2.PNG

then only CTRL+C save selections are very helpful in this cases

 2.1.PNG2.3.PNG

if you like a free paste only CTRL+V in desired floor plan or if you like to paste in the same position oly select the option like the @Avaris. image show

Hi

Identify different elements in Revit..

Like

1. Host ( Example Wall, Floor )

2. Hosted element ( Example Door, Window, floor based families, level based families etc )

While copying anything from one floor level to another, you just need to copy /paste host elements.

Ex : copy and pasting a wall from Ground floor to Level 1, will copy all the doors, windows present in that wall...

once you learn that.. you can group the building in various manageable parts...

Ex :

Core - ( lifts, staircase)

Shell - External wall

Inter-tenancy - Walls between units

Internal  / Partition - Partition all

If the parts of floors are typical , then copy groups..

else just copy the elements you need.

best luck.
