IN A FAMILY, I NEED TO FIX REF. PLAN AND MOVE ANOTHER BUT THE PROBLEM IS THAT THE WRONG ONE MOVES AND THE OTHER KEEP FIXED UNLIKE MY DESIRE..

NOTING THAT I MADE THE FIXED ONE STRONG REF. AND DEFINE ORIGIN AND THE OTHER IS WEAK ..

PLEASE HELP

THE FOLLOWING PICS SHOW THE PROBLEMice_screenshot_20180119-015305.jpegice_screenshot_20180119-015511.jpegice_screenshot_20180119-015423.jpegice_screenshot_20180119-015402.jpeg

Weak or Strong reference does not have anything to do with a reference plane moving or not. What exactly are you trying to do, some kind of star? Or a pattern?

@Alfredo_Medina: Wondering the same thing as you.

@RKS_PRECISION: Why not use Ref Lines? Lock their ends down so they don't move and give 'em and an angle dimension to obey.

Hi

Define a Centre / point & planes for the family.

any Reference planes/ lines passing through this Centre should be locked.

all other Reference planes Left or Right side can be flexible ( parametric using dimensions..)

If any element / elements are overlapped on central reference planes, then try to

split the element in two parts..

Part 1 - Left side aligned to Left Reference plane and right side to Centre Reference plane.

Part 2 - Right side aligned to Right Reference plane, and left side  Centre Reference Plane.

Cheers!

You need to build the skeleton of references in a different way because you want to control the figure by the distance between the long diagonals. That distance (d) is one of the sides of a small triangle at the base. Using that distance (d) and the angle (A) of 60 degrees, you can find (x). Then, knowing (x) and knowing (A), you can find the total height of the pattern (y). Then, use those those values to complete the skeleton. Then, draw the reference lines from intersection to intersection. Then use the reference lines to create the surfaces, solids,  or filled regions that you want to create.

Maybe just Pin the RP you want to be fixed.

IT IS A PATTERN OF TRIANGLES, AND WHAT I EXACTLY NEED TO DO IS TO MAKE A PARAMETER CONTROLS THE SIZE OF THE TRIANGLE, BECAUSE PATTERN GOES BIGGER AND I NEED TO MAKE THE FAMILY GOES BIGGER TOO

@RKS_PRECISION Did you see post # 5 above? That "d" parameter changes the size of all the triangles.

Depending on what you want to do, it might be easier to use a divided surface with a pattern, if you want to increase the number of triangles, not just the size of the triangles.

OK DEAR ALL, I'LL TELL U EXACTLY WHAT I NEED TO DO...

HERE IS THE FAMILY FILE OF A TRIANGLE, I JUST NEED TO MAKE SOME PARAMETERS IN ORDER TO CONTROL THE SIZE OF THE TRIANGLE.. I NEED IT TO GET BIGGER ONLY FOR THE 3 LEGS, NOT THE THICKNESS

ALSO THERE IS A MODEL LINE OFFSET FROM THE EXTRUSION BY 20mm, I NEED TO KEEP IT LIKE THAT.. ALWAYS OFFSET FROM THE TRIANGLE BY 20mm

THANKS A LOT

What is this? What is it supposed to do?

Why should the question start from scratch again when a solution has been explained already? I don´t understand. It´s like you are starting the same question over and over without paying attention to the ideas that have been shared already for you to do this family.

I think this is the 4th time you say that.

now i can't find the solution, so i attached the file in order to apply your solution on it.. you are better than me and can explain better on the file..

sorry again for exhausting you all

Just a suggestion....if you want the triangles to be separate from each other in size, create your reference planes and dimensions in sketch mode.

Hi

There are lots of consideration while creating this family, and one mistake ruins everything...

We probably don't have time to explain so I have just made some changes and updated

the family..Pls note that the " Angle ex 55 Deg " is fixed here...its not editable.

to have a family with parametric angle then you will have to recreate entire family with that as a base.

Pay Attention to

1. Reference lines / planes ( in plan / elevation )

2. locking profile

3. not over locking dimensions

4. Parameter which are TYPE PARAMETERS and some INSTANCE PARAMETER

5. few formula general used like D, d=D/2 etc.

6. The groove profile is offset to get the correct location..

Hope that helps..

Note : You might have to change some dimensions, parameters etc.. and now you are on your own..
