Hello,
I need to control deeply the exported layers from Revit to Autocad. Specially regarding the Layers of cut patterns and projection patterns.
for example, if we have a generic model family, and we assigned a solid cut pattern for the material of this element. We need the cut lines to be exported in a layer, and the cut pattern to be in a different layer.
I tried to created a subcategory for the extrusion inside the family, and it has not been solved.
So the question is how deeply can we control the exported layers for each and single pattern used in Revit?
Exported patterns in families (loadable as well as system families) are either Category based or Override based regardless if you apply them (Material/Paint/Override/Filters). Hence, your control over which layer it would inherit it is pretty much limited.
You could try to work with subcategories (works mostly for loadable families) then assign the different subcategories to different layers in the DWG export settings; however, you will always reach a dead end where you cannot really do or influence the export to meet the desired output.
It is more practical after export

Thanks so much for your reply,
Actually I am using subcategories method, but for some elements specially for the generic model families, the pattern does not have separated subcategory.
If I use the override option and filters it will affect the view setting in the model, then it will affect the printing from Revit to PDF.
It is very important in the coming versions of Revit to focus deeply on the export to CAD setting, noting that for many projects the DWG format still an official document, and it must reflect the companies standard.
And it is not logic after putting a big time on the modelling and sheets generation, to spend additional time on DWG files adjustment.
For the time being, that is the only solution I can suggest you are free to take it or just live with the export as it is.
I do not work for Autodesk; hence, I cannot tell whether Autodesk are planing to implement your wish in the upcoming version or not. In the meantime, you can help yourself by posting your idea on the Revit Ideas forum and hope for the best
